Getting started
Requirements, connectivity, and your first trial
Yes. The Free plan never expires and requires no card. The 14-day Pro trial requires a card, but nothing is charged before day 15 and we send a reminder three days before. Start on the Download page.
Yes, for Dictation, text-to-speech, and AI processing. Local voice commands are recognized on your PC. Our Security & privacy page explains each data flow and service.
Dictation
Shortcuts, insertion, cleanup, and personalization
How do I start dictating?
By default: Ctrl+Shift+Space, a middle-mouse click, or Ctrl plus the top mouse button for streaming Dictation. Ctrl+Alt+D starts Precise batch mode. All triggers can be configured.
Where does the dictated text go?
Text is first copied to the clipboard, then pasted at the cursor position in the active application.
What's the difference between Cleanup, Dictionary, and Transformers?
Cleanup mechanically improves the transcript. Personal Dictionary remembers your words. A Transformer applies a saved, reusable instruction to the text.
How many languages are available?
SpeakApp supports 40 languages. Choose spoken and written languages separately to translate after dictation.
Reading
Ready replies, the Reading queue, and summaries
What happens when an AI reply is ready?
When Global Reading is enabled, SpeakApp places ready replies in a queue, keeps track of their sources, and reads them one at a time.
Can I hear a summary instead of the entire reply?
Yes. Choose a summary level from faithful reading to a more condensed version. Playback highlighting is not a summary.
Do Reading and Dictation work in the same apps?
Dictation works in Windows text fields. Reading and session tracking depend on the available integration for each platform.
Commands & saved snippets
System commands, custom actions, and saved texts
How do commands differ from saved snippets?
A system command performs a local action. A custom command opens a URL or copies text. A saved snippet inserts full text at the cursor. These are similar shortcuts, but separate mechanisms.
Is the microphone always listening after installation?
No. Always-on listening is off by default at installation. You must first activate voice functionality with a button or shortcut. A manual stop remains effective.
Where are my saved snippets stored?
They are stored locally on your PC and protected by Windows DPAPI.
Can SpeakApp type phrases I repeat all the time?
Yes. Save them once, then use a keyboard shortcut to insert the entire message at the cursor in any Windows application.

What today's voice agent does—and what it doesn't promise
What does Hey Speak do today?
Hey Speak answers directly or passes your question to an AI assistant you already use, then reads the reply aloud.
Does Hey Speak remember my entire history?
No. Hey Speak retains context during the current application session; that memory resets after a restart.
Are Hey Speak and Copilot the same thing?
No. Hey Speak is the current voice agent. Copilot is a separate future supervision feature, clearly marked Coming soon.

Plan allowances and contractual commitments
What changes between plans?
Every plan includes the same product. Reading, dictation, and premium voice allowances vary. The current plans are Free, Lecture, Pro, and Entreprise.
Does SpeakApp store my conversation content?
SpeakApp does not retain your conversation content on its servers. Certain actions still send audio or text to the required services, as detailed on the Security page.
