For professionals with their hands full
Your work needs your hands elsewhere: on a machine, with a patient, holding an instrument, or working from a plan. Meanwhile your AI agents run on the nearby PC. SpeakApp bridges the gap: they speak up when they have a result, you answer with one word, and your work is not interrupted.
The problem is not the computer; it is the interruption
Put down the tool, remove gloves, wash your hands, then return. The cost is not the keyboard; it is everything required before you can touch it. The alternatives are both poor: lose track of your agents or stop working to check them. Voice is not merely convenient here; it is the only channel available while the work is happening.
This is a situational constraint, not a disability. It lasts while your hands are occupied and differs from the requirements of permanent accessibility needs.
What changes in practice
- Agents bring results to you. End-of-reply detection recognizes a finished, stalled, or waiting conversation and starts playback or a notification automatically. Nothing to open or keep actively running.
- Choose what to hear. Notify-instead-of-read only alerts you. A summary can replace the full answer when you just need its conclusion: no need to listen to a page for one relevant line.
- Confirm with one word. Dictation types into the targeted session without touching the keyboard. The customizable spoken command “ok” sends your answer to that session; “Reply” is a button label, not a spoken command. Examples: “add it to the file,” “order that one,” or “continue.”
- Keep your existing software. SpeakApp acts in the apps you already use without requiring a new workspace.
What it cannot do
- A powered-on Windows PC within speaking distance is required, with the conversation displayed. SpeakApp is desktop software, not a phone app for use away from your workstation.
- Remote cloud executions cannot be read. Reading takes conversation content at its source; a remote execution does not leave a dialogue trace on your disk.
- SpeakApp is not a medical device or certified for regulated uses. It is desktop software that reads a screen and types at the cursor.
- After roughly six hours a conversation no longer resumes in the queue, with no warning.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use an earbud or headset?
Yes. Playback uses the PC’s audio output, including any connected headset or earbud. The microphone follows the Windows input device. There is no proprietary hardware to buy or additional pairing beyond your existing devices.
Do I have to speak loudly or say a wake word?
You can trigger a feature with a keyboard shortcut or voice, depending on settings. Voice commands and a wake word are provided for moments when both hands are occupied. Dictated text appears at the cursor as though you typed it.
What happens if I am interrupted halfway through?
Pause, skip, rewind, or remove a conversation from the queue without disturbing the others. The queue survives an app restart, within the approximately six-hour window.
Sources and scope
- Feature status: Features.
- Windows, remote-execution, and six-hour limits: internal product documentation checked September 14, 2026.
- The hands-busy persona includes a physical therapist in a session, a cook during service, and a mechanic working under a hood. This is deliberately distinguished from permanent disability, which requires a different analysis.
